The 14 CBRNE Response Regiment of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers successfully conducted a comprehensive training program on 17 and 18 January 2026 for the team selected to participate in the prestigious Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) event. The program conducted at the 3(v) SLSR and it was designed to enhance technical knowledge, operational preparedness, and team confidence ahead of the international military exercise. The training covered a series of structured lectures focusing on the identification of explosives, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) equipment, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and emerging Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) threats. These sessions aimed to strengthen the participants’ theoretical understanding while familiarizing them with contemporary threats encountered in modern operational environments.

Special emphasis was placed on the correct donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), a critical skill in CBRN and decontamination operations. Troops were also briefed and demonstrated standard decontamination procedures, highlighting safety protocols and best practices to ensure personnel protection during hazardous scenarios. The training program reflected the 14 CBRNE Response Regiment’s commitment to maintaining high professional standards and operational readiness. By combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical exposure, the regiment ensured that the PATS-bound team is well prepared to meet the challenges of the competition and represent the Sri Lanka Army with distinction. Such initiatives further underscore the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers’ dedication to capacity building, international military cooperation, and excellence in specialized engineering and CBRNE operations.
