On 26 April 2025, the 14 CBRNE Response Regiment conducted a comprehensive Explosive Discovery workshop at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), focusing on Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD). The program included lecture on explosives and accessories use in Explosive Ordnance Disposal Operations and an impressive display of the equipment currently used by the CBRNE Regiment.
Following the lecture sessions, a live demonstration was carried out, showcasing the modern techniques and tools used to dispose of explosive devices placed in vehicles. The demonstration highlighted the latest technology and methods adopted by Sri Lanka Engineers, providing valuable insights to the participants.
The event was organized specifically for Intake 41 and Intake 42 cadet officers, aiming to enhance their knowledge and familiarize them with modern technologies in the field of EOD and CBRNE response. The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Chief Field Engineer and Supervision of the Commanding Officer of the 14 CBRNE Response Regiment.
The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara, VSV, USP, psc, MMaritimePol, BSc (DS) and Deputy Vice Chancellor Brigadier R.K.A.R.P. Ratnayake RSP USP of KDU, who attended as the chief guests, emphasizing the importance of such training initiatives for the future officers of Sri Lanka.
