14 CBRN RESPONSE REGIMENT SLE TROOPS PROMPTLLY RESPONSE TOXIC GAS EMISSION IN KELANIYA AREA
14 CBRN Response Regiment SLE is a dedicated organization to response Chemical, Biological, Radiology and Nuclear emergencies in the country. To prove its vital role in the field, solders of 14 CBRN Regt SLE conducted a first responder operation against the toxic gas emission from a dumped soiling general area Kelaniya on 12 January 2018. \r\n According to the information received from National Authority for Implementation of Chemical Weapon Convention (NACWC), 2 x 15 CBRN Regt SLE troops were rush to the incident site at Wewalduwa, Kelaniya on 0030 hrs, on 12 January 2018 and detected Carbon Monoxide (CO) toxic gas in high consecration.Then made necessary arrangement to control and prevent further emission of toxic gas along with fire brigade. There were no victims/property damages during the incident. \r\n 14 CBRN Regt SLE troops carry out operation under the direction of Comd Engr Bde, Brig SJMAR Seneviratne RWP USP psc and close supervision of Commanding Officer of the 14 CBRN Regt SLE, Lt Col TDP Siriwardene psc SLE.12 Field Engr Regt SLE provided Plant Machinery for the operation to sealed off the gas emission area with soil.\r\n
