12 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT WON THE INTER REGIMENT DRILL COMPETITION - 2018

The Awarding Ceremony of Inter Regiment Drill competition 2018 which signify the high standards of discipline and conduct among sappers of Sri Lanka Corps of Engineers, took Centre stage on 04 November 2019 at the Corps of Engineers Parade ground. Chief Field Engineer Major General Thissa Nanayakkara graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, on the formal invitation of Brigadier Raveendra Dias, the Centre Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

The teams began to march with the rhythmic and soothing melodies of Sappers band and entered to the Parade ground when the Chief Guest arrived to the saluting base. The climax of the day’s events, surrounded in curiosity reached the agenda with award of trophies and certificates to Best Platoon, Best Platoon Commander and Best Drill Instructor who have exhibited their outstanding performances during the Drill Competition.

12 Field Engineer Regiment Drill Squad was selected as the Best Drill squad in year 2018 while 4 (V) Engineer Regiment became the second place. Captain PN Ariyasinghe SLE from 12 Field Engineer Regiment was named as the Best Platoon Commander and WO II Jayapathma JHMPN from 4 (V) Engineer Regiment was named as the Best Drill Instructor.

The Chief Guest Major General Thissa Nanayakkara extended his praise and appreciation to all the sappers and sapper Officers and commended them for their quality performances. He took time off to congratulate each achievers towards the end of the event. Large gathering of senior Officers, Officers and Other Rankers attended the awarding ceremony.
