The prolonged use of chemical fertilizers has destroyed the natural richness of the ground soil. The consumption of a poisonous diet has led to an ailing society. Empowering and implementing the Government policy of encouraging organic fertilizer production process as per the direction of the Commander of the Army with the aim of increasing organic fertilizer for unit agricultural purposes.
In 10 Field Engineer Regiment sapper troops commenced the project under the supervision of the commanding officer 10 Field Engineer Regiment Lt Col WKST Kannanagara psc SLE with the aim of increasing corps productivity, generating organic materials such as green manure, animal manure etc. To educate and enhanced the knowledge regarding compost fertilizers, officer from SFHQ(J) farm conducted a valuable lecture with practical sessions for sapper troops on 06.02.2022.
Presently sapper troops managed to build 6 compost beds which are having the size of 25’ x 4’ square feet and planned to produce 1.5 Ton of high-quality organic fertilizers. In near future sapper troops plan to increase the corps productivity by using those high-quality organic fertilizers which was made inside the camp premises by their own hands.
