1 Field Engineer Regiment reached its’ 70th Milestone in dedicated serving career on 01 October 2021. Therefore Commanding Officer of 1 Fd SLE, Major UGS Wijenayake USP psc SLE, Officers and Other Ranks conducted a dry ration donation to a Child Development Centre Jinananda Children’s home in Wellawatta.
In 70th illustrious serving journey, 1 Fd SLE has contributed to nation building tasks and served as combat support arm in battle during Eelam wars and afterwards. 1 Fd SLE missed its’ valiant 10 Officers and 179 Soldiers who had done supreme sacrifice for the sovereignty of the motherland. Further, 12 Officers and 160 Soldiers were wound in action in 30 years war.v
Amidst of the Covid - 19 situation, while adhering to health guidence, 1 Fd SLE conducted this donation as remembrance programme of unit war heroes. The programme was highly appreciated by Chief incumbent of the Child Care Centre (Rev. Uruwaththe Sugathananda thero) and 62 Children were benefited, by timely important programme.
