UNIT HISTORY
In order to meet the development process of the country after the end of the war that lasted for more than thirty years, in order to meet the increasing demand of Sappers for construction related tasks at Defense Headquarter Complex (DHQC) project Battaramulla, 33 SLNG was re-designated as a 15(V) SLE in the raising instruction’s (ARO 12/2014) of the army Headquarters on 7th May 2014.
At the outset of 15(V) SLE was established along with 14 Officers and 326 ORs at the DHQC project, Battaramulla on 7th May 2014 and as a first Commanding Officer Lt Col LM Haputhanthri SLE was appointed. Senior Officer Lt Col WMMP Wanigasooriya USP psc SLE work as a present Commanding officer of the unite and RMPD Ranwala performs the duties of regimental Sargent Major. The 3 Squadron of this unit are currently working on the construction of the Ministry of State Security and the new tri-forces headquarters, and only the mother unite was established at the Bellagaswewa Army Camp.
Currently, 24 Officers and 600 ORs and 496 Non-Militarize are working under the unit.

Sports Achievements
S/B 101253 L/CPL Kumarasiri MWB represented this unit in 2020 National Games and won the gold medal for MUTHAI MOIBORAN event.
