  • NEW COMMANDANT OF THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY TRAINING CENTRE ASSUMES OFFICE

    Colonel Koshina Peiris RSP assumed duties as the 11th Commandant of the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre on 29 July 2021.

    He was warmely welcomed by the Chief Instructor and greeted with a Guard Turnout upon his arrival.

    After religious observances, the newly appointed Commandant signed an official document to signify the official acceptance of his office.

    Afterwards, he was invited for a planting of a sapling to mark the event and day’s proceedings were terminated by addressing all Instructors and Staff for better training part to uplift the standard of the Mechanized Infantry Regimental organization.

  • FURIOUS AND A BOLD PERFORMANCES BY THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY TROOPS DURING THE EXERCISE CORMORANT STRIKE XI – 2021

    For the first time in the history of Sri Lanka, the Mechanized Infantry troops displayed the furious and bold performances by conducting an independent combat team exercise in the ‘Exercise Cormorant Strike XI 2021’ which resultant to prove marching forward with vigour.

    A fully-fledged company of 1st Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment and two troops of 4th Regiment Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and the exercise was staged under the supervision of the Commander Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Kavinda Balasooriya RSP psc.

  • THE COMMANDER, MECHANIZED INFANTRY BRIGADE VISITS THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY TRAINING CENTRE AFTER ASSUMING HIS OFFICE

    The Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Kavinda Balasooriya paid his first official visit to the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre on 05 November 2021. At the entrance he was warmly welcomed by Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Training Centre and invited for a planting of sapling. Afterwards, he addressed the all Officers and Other Ranks to convey important messages to uplift the standard of training and other administrative matters.

    Thereafter, a coordinating conference held with all Commanding Officers to discuss future developments of the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre.

  • FIEST OFFICIAL VISIT TO THE 4 MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT BY COMMANDER, MECHANIZED INFANTRY BRIGADE

    The Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade Brigadier Kavinda Balasooriya RSP psc paid his first official visit to the 4 Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 14 Oct 2021 after assuming his office.

    Upon arrival at the entrance he was cordially welcomed by the Commanding Officer, 4th Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Rohitha Ranasinghe USP psc MIR. Thereafter, attended for the formal briefing of the Commanding Officer. Further, to mark his visit he was invited to for a planting of a sapling and followed by troops address and camp visit were taken place.

  • ASSUMING OF DUTIES BY THE NEWLY APPOINTED COMMANDER MECHANIZED INFANTRY BRIGADE

    Brigadier B P G K Balasooriya RSP psc assumed duties as the 12 Commander Mechanized Infantry Brigade on 12 August 2021 of the Headquarter Mechanized Infantry Brigade.

    The Commander Mechanized infantry Brigade was warmly received upon his arrival by Lieutenant Colonel R M H B Rathnayaka RSP USP psc CO 3 MIR, Lieutenant Colonel R A S R Ranasinghe USP psc CO 4 MIR, Lieutenant Colonel E R A Silva CO 5(V) MIR and the brigade staff.

    Adhering to the health guidelines, the formal military ceremony was commenced soon after the guard turnout at the entrance. Afterwards, he planted a sapling before assuming duties.

    Later, he placed his signature for a formal document for assuming duties amidst simply arranged religious observances to signify the acceptance of the new office and addressed the Officers and Other Ranks of the Brigade and conveyed his views and guidance.

  • NEWLY CONSTRUCTED HOUSE FOR FAMILY MEMBERS OF LATE MECHANIZED SOLDIER

    The concept initiated by the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army to build houses for the deceased and differently abled soldiers, a newly constructed house under the “Housing Project Phase V” was ceremonially vested to the family members of Late Private Priyantha SK (3 MIR) in Beliaththa area by the Colonel of the Regiment MIR Major General S S Waduge RWP RSP USP ndu psc on 07 February 2021.

  • MIR SEVA VANITHA BRANCH EXTENDED SUPPORT TO UPLIFT THE LIVING STANDARD OF SERVING MIR SOLDIERS

    The concept made by Mrs. Nelum Waduge, President - Mechanized Infantry Seva Vanitha Branch to uplift the living standard of serving soldiers of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment, extended the financial support to renovate and complete partially built houses of Corporal Ekanayaka EAG who was sustained with injury during UN mission in Mali and Lance Corporal Piayadasa LWCP who is under treatment due to accidental injury.
