A formal farewell ceremony for Major General C D Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu was held on 30 November 2022 at the Regimental Centre, Mechanized Infantry Regiment - Dambuluhalmillawewa.
The Colonel of the Regiment was warmly welcomed upon his arrival by Brigadier A M A Abeysinghe RWP RSP USP psc - Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment along with Regimental Council Members.
The formal military farewell ceremony commenced soon after the guard turnout at the entrance. After that, paid tribute to the fallen war heroes at the war heroes monument. later, he was greeted by the guard of honour and invited for a troops address. In parallel to the event, he was invited to open the newly constructed WOs’ & Sgts’ accommodation building, on the day of farewell.Thereafter, he was invited for the lunch hosted by the Regiment and he kept his praiseworthy remarks on the Visitors’ Book.
Finally, after conveying best wishes for future prospects to the Regiment, he was offered a salute by all Officers and Other Ranks in a street line to appreciate the dedicated service rendered as the 13th Colonel of the Regiment.
