The Director General Financial Management and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock, Major General KDML Samaradiwakara RWP RSP ndc psc, paid his fisrt official visit to the 4(V) Battalion SLACAL on 14 February 2026. Upon arrival at the battalion premises, the Colonel Commandant was warmly received by the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel DC Molligoda USP SLAC, along with officers and other ranks of the battalion. In keeping with military traditions, he was accorded a formal welcome.
To mark the significance of his visit, the Colonel Commandant planted a sapling within the camp premises, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and the continued commitment of the Corps towards national agricultural development.
Addressing the troops, Major General Samaradiwakara shared his views on the prevailing challenges faced by soldiers in the current environment especially drug abuse and emphasized the importance of professionalism, dedication, and collective effort in overcoming such challenges. He further encouraged all ranks to remain steadfast in fulfilling their duties while upholding the proud traditions of the Corps and the Army.
During the subsequent farm visit, the Colonel Commandant inspected the ongoing agricultural and livestock development projects undertaken by the Battalion in Army Farm Adiyapuliyankulam, Army farm Manikfarm, Army Farm Vellankulam, Army Farm Kurumbhasetti and Army Farm Puthukkuduirippu. Further, he visited the Army Farm Palali, which is newly added farm for the 4(V) SLACAL. He appreciated the progress achieved thus far and provided guidance for the further enhancement and expansion of Army farm initiatives in line with the Army’s vision of strengthening national food security through sustainable and innovative approaches. The visit concluded after visiting the Army Farm Puthukkuduirippu, which is the only livestock farm of the 4(V) SLACAL.
