SCHOOL STATIONARY AND BOOK DONATION PROGRAM FOR WORLD CHILDREN’S DAY – 2024 BY THE SRI LANKA ARMY CORPS OF AGRICULTURE AND LIVESTOCK SEVA VANITHA BRANCH

Coinciding with Childrens’ Day 2024, the Seva Vanitha Branch of SLACAL, organized a school Stationary & Book donation program for 30 deserving school children of ORs from within the Sri Lanka Army Corp of Agriculture and Livestock. This event took place on 19th October '24 under the direction and patronage of the SVB SLACAL President, Mrs Varuni Kulatunge. A memorable event was hosted by the 4 Regiments of SLACAL in their respective battalion locations.

This noble undertaking was of immeasurable value to the children, whilst the gift pack included all the stationaries necessary for a whole school year, a DSI gift voucher worth Rs.5000/- and a colourful umbrella too was an added donation by the president.

Further, all 30 children were treated to an enjoyable day filled with fun along with their parents & families.The parents were educated on the importance of the "role of a parent" in each child's life. The parents were also gifted a wholesome dry ration pack and the entire family was treated to a special breakfast and lunch.

On the advice of the president, a lot of care, attention & affection was given symbolising the importance of good mental health in Children for a healthy future.

The donation program marks a historical juncture as it was the first such donation of its kind in the annals of SLACAL and will be a cherished memory in the minds of all those who participated.

Major General SA Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP, Commander – Security Forces (East), and the Colonel Commandant of SLACAL along with the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs Varuni Kulatunge worked tirelessly to make this donation a reality. The Centre Commandant, SVB members and other well wishes all contributed wholeheartedly towards the success of this magnanimous gesture.
