Monthly Meeting of The Seva Vanitha Branch - SLACAL

The 5th monthly meeting of the Seva Vanitha Branch - SLACAL for the month of September was held on 28th Sept '24 at the 1st Battalion, Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock - Dombawelagama.

The President Mrs.Varuni Kulatunge presided over the meeting with a total of 14 seva vanitha ladies comprising the corum.

During the meeting, several ideas were discussed & implimented to increase the income of each unit. It was advised by the president that all 4 units start their own plant nurseries as a secondary income generator while she advised the newly appointed secretary to look into making Elagithel oil lamps at the RHQ. There, it was proposed to carry out necessary training programs to give the knowledge needed to the soldiers' wives to carry out these handicrafts & self-employment projects independently. It was agreed that all this will be implemented under the patronage & direction of the current president Mrs.Varuni Kulatunge.

Further 4 new welfare projects for the month of October was discussed in time for World Children's Day. The President also stated that the CAL soldiers & OR's children will greatly benefit by these events.

The meeting closed with an evening tea for all membership
