FELICITATION CEREMONY FOR THE NEWLY PROMOTED COMMANDING OFFICER 5 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT

The 5 Field Engineer Regiment held a customary felicitation ceremony to honour the newly promoted Commanding Officer of the Regiment, Lt Col LLCS Cabraal psc SLE, on 06 February 2026 at the Home of Sappers, Maththegoda.

The ceremony commenced with a customary Guard Turnout. Upon arrival, the newly promoted Commanding Officer was warmly welcomed by the Second in Command of the unit, Maj DSM Siriwardhana USP SLE.

The Commanding Officer assumed office with the blessings of the Noble Triple Gem and subsequently addressed the key appointment holders at his office.

Thereafter, the Commanding Officer addressed all ranks of the unit. At the outset, he extended his heartfelt gratitude to all ranks for organizing such a charming ceremony to mark his promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He further emphasized the importance of career progression and professional development for all ranks.

The day’s programme concluded with the Commanding Officer conveying his best wishes and encouragement for the upcoming battalion programmes scheduled to commence in the near future.
