CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS CELEBRATES 74 YEARS OF PRIDE AND HONOUR WITH A SERIES OF GLITTERING AND MEMORABLE CEREMONIAL EVENTS

In a proud display of military tradition and excellence, the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers celebrated its 74th Anniversary with a splendid ceremonial parade held on 09 November 2025 at the Regimental Parade Square. The event marked a significant milestone in the Corps’ illustrious history, adding grandeur and patriotic spirit to this memorable occasion.

Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, bringing great honour and prestige to the celebration.

As per long-standing military tradition, the Colonel Commandant was accorded a formal Guard Turnout, a gesture that exemplified the discipline and professionalism for which the Corps is well known. The ceremonial reception was followed by a floral tribute to the Fallen War Heroes, where the Colonel Commandant laid a wreath at the Fallen War Heroes Monument in a solemn act of remembrance, honouring the brave sons of the Corps who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.

The ceremonial parade, the centrepiece of the anniversary celebrations, was meticulously organized by the Regiment and commanded by Lieutenant Colonel K W K R Jayasinghe RSP psc SLE, comprising 24 Officers and 169 Other Ranks. The parade demonstrated the Corps’ strength, unity, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Addressing the parade, Major General D K S K Dolage extended his heartfelt appreciation to all Officers and Other Ranks for their dedicated service and invaluable contribution to the Corps and the Sri Lanka Army. He emphasized the importance of resilience, adaptability, and commitment in facing modern-day challenges, inspiring all ranks to uphold the proud traditions of the Corps with renewed determination. The Colonel Commandant also commended the dedicated service rendered by Major General Lanka Amarapala (Retd) RWP RSP ndc psc, the former Colonel Commandant, for his exemplary leadership and initiatives undertook to enhance the infrastructure facilities of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

Following the parade, the anniversary cake-cutting ceremony and the all-ranks lunch took place, symbolizing the strong bond and camaraderie shared among Officers, Other Ranks, and Civil Staff. The event reflected the unity, respect, and brotherhood that have long defined the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

The day’s celebrations concluded with a grand Officers’ Get-Together held at the Home of Sappers - Mattegoda, where Officers gathered in a friendly and joyous atmosphere, reminiscing cherished memories and strengthening the bond of fellowship. The evening was filled with moments of laughter, music, and heartfelt camaraderie, marking a graceful conclusion to a day that truly celebrated the pride, heritage, and enduring spirit of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. The occasion not only reflected the Corps’ glorious past but also its continued commitment to excellence, unity, and service to the nation.
