OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE COLONEL COMMANDANT TO FIELD ENGINEER BRIGADE AND 8 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT

Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, paid an official visit to the Field Engineer Brigade and 8 Field Engineer Regiment, Boo Oya on Saturday, 06th September 2025.

On arrival, the Colonel Commandant was accorded a Drive Pass at the main entrance and warmly received by Brigadier H K P Karunathilaka RSP, Commander Field Engineer Brigade, together with Lieutenant Colonel A U Hidellarachchi RSP USP SLE, Commanding Officer of 8 Field Engineer Regiment.

Thereafter, the Brigade Commander, together with the Brigade Staff, Commanding Officer, and officers of 8 SLE, delivered a comprehensive briefing on operational responsibilities, current deployments, and overall performance. This was followed by a group photograph with the officers. Addressing the troops, the Colonel Commandant emphasized the importance of resilience in overcoming challenges, endorsed the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative, and underscored the Army’s responsibility in inspiring wider community participation towards national development.

Subsequently, he toured the camp premises, interacted with all ranks during a tea gathering, and witnessed a demonstration conducted by Mine Detection Dogs (MDDs), Explosive Detection Dogs (EDDs), and Search and Rescue Dogs (SARDs) at the Kennel area.

The visit concluded with the Colonel Commandant leaving a complimentary note in the Visitors’ Book, appreciating the professionalism, commitment, and dedication of all ranks of the Brigade and 8 Field Engineer Regiment.
