9 Field Engineer Regiment proudly marked its 25th anniversary on 10 February 2025 with a series of vibrant events at its camp in Kokavil, Kilinochchi. The celebrations held from 7 February 2025 to 10 February 2025, embodied the unit’s pride, camaraderie, and dedication while honoring its rich history and traditions.
The commemorative activities commenced with a Bodhi Pooja on 08 February, held at the Camp, where blessings were sought for the regiment’s continued success and unity. Inter squadron's cricket tournament, volleyball tournament and basketball tournament were glamorous events within the 25th anniversary events, where teamwork and sheer commitment of the officers and other ranks were significantly highlighted.
The pinnacle of the celebrations unfolded on 10 February 2025, when a series of military formalities were organized with the participation of the Commanding Officer Major Janaka Rangajeewa USP psc SLE being honored with a Guard Turnout at the main entrance followed by a ceremonial parade, symbolizing the unit’s strength and unity.
Adding further significance to the occasion, the Commanding Officer addressed the troops to inspire and motivate all ranks. A symbolic tree-planting ceremony was also conducted to emphasize the regiment’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Marking this noteworthy day, Senior Officers, Officers, and all Other Ranks cut the anniversary cake and then posed for photographs with all ranks of the unit. 9 Field Engineer Regiment successfully initiated its dry ration pack distribution program for the civilian staff. A total number of 10 civil staff members were beneficiaries of this thoughtful endeavor.
The camaraderie and unity among all ranks were further highlighted during the all ranks lunch, where officers and soldiers shared a meal to foster a strong sense of fellowship. Afterward, soldiers who played with dedication for the unit, gained sports skills, and studied the courses with excellence were given a prize during The Musical Night on 11th February 2025.
9 Field Engineer Regiment’s 25th anniversary celebrations not only honored its glorious past but also reaffirmed the unity, dedication, and professionalism of its personnel. The successful conclusion of this milestone event highlighted the regiment’s strong traditions and its readiness to face future challenges with unwavering commitment.
