VISIT OF THE GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING ENGINEER DIVISION TO 9 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT

Major General S P G Gamage RWP RSP USP, the General Officer Commanding of Engineer Division, accompanied by the Field Engineer Brigade Commander paid an official visit to the 9 Field Engineer Regiment on 06 February 2025.

Upon arrival, the General Officer Commanding and the Field Engineer Brigade Commander were warmly welcomed by Major B D J Rangajeewa USP psc SLE, the Commanding Officer - 9 Field Engineer Regiment. The Ceremonial Guard Turnout was accorded to the General Officer Commanding upon the arrival.

During the visit, the General Officer Commanding addressed the troops, emphasizing the importance of military discipline and the requirement of grooming personnel for operational and non-operational requirements.

Drawing from his extensive experience, ranging from a ground commander to a flag officer in the Army, he shared valuable insights with the troops. Following the address, the General Officer Commanding and all ranks of the 9 Field Engineer Regiment engaged in an interactive session where a formal tea was arranged by all ranks of the regiment.

To commemorate the occasion, the General Officer Commanding planted an “Iron Wood” sapling on the camp premises, followed by a group photograph to mark the visit.

The General Officer Commanding was briefed by the Commanding Officer on the current status of the regiment’s role and tasks, strength and future operation plan as part of an affiliated battalion of 1 Corps and under command battalion of the Field Engineer Brigade.

Finally, the General Officer Commanding left his remarks in the Visitors’ Book at the Officers’ Mess, 9 Field Engineer Regiment.
