SAPPERS SHINE WITH OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES AT NATIONAL JUDO CHAMPIONSHIP – 2024

61st National Judo Championship 2024 took place on the 12th to 15th of December 2024 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, where 04 male and female Sapper judo players represented the Army team and displayed remarkable skills and performances. Their hard work paid off as they secured a total of 04 medals, including 01 Gold, 01 Silver and 02 Bronze medals.

Among the standout performers, the Sappers demonstrated exceptional techniques and strategic mastery throughout the competition, showcasing their dedication to excellence. Their impressive performances highlighted not only their individual talent but also their collective commitment to the sport.

The following Sapper players represented the Army team and earned medals during the championship:

1. S/B103358 Sapper Senavirathne AVUG of 4(V) SLE – Gold Medal in 44Kg weight category

2. S/B103174 Sapper Ranasinghe KGSU of 4(V) SLE – Silver Medal in Women team category

3. S/2024VFRD16837 Sapper Balarathne KWGHWP of 4(V) SLE – Bronze Medal in 40 Kg weight category

4. S/248675 Lance Corporal Wijesinghe WASPU of 8 SLE – Bronze Medal in 90 Kg weight category

As the championship concluded, the Sappers Judo payers represented the Army team, emerged with pride, marking a significant milestone in their sporting journey. Their performance serves as a testament to the hard training and dedication that characterize the spirit of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
