SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED THE CBRN RESPONSE BASIC COURSE

The 14 Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Response Regiment successfully conducted a CBRN Response Basic Course to strengthen the capacity and capabilities of soldiers by training them as first responders to Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) emergencies in the country. The course was held from 13 February 2025 to 12 March 2025, with the participation of 22 student soldiers under the supervision of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering.

As part of the training program, a field visit to the Sri Lanka Gamma Center in Biyagama was organized, providing student soldiers with valuable insights into safety precautions for radioactive materials and their applications. Additionally, a one-day firefighting workshop, conducted by the School of Fire and Rescue in Wellawatta, significantly enhanced the students' firefighting skills and response capabilities.

Furthermore, the practical sessions and guest lecture on first aid in CBRN emergencies served as an eye-opening experience for the student soldiers, equipping them with essential lifesaving techniques. Visiting lectures were also arranged to foster recognition of key stakeholders in the CBRN field and to further enrich the students' knowledge.

The following stakeholders contributed their valuable expertise and lectures to the CBRN First Responders’ Course, greatly enhancing the overall learning experience for the participants.
