The military funeral of late S/252538 Sapper Viraj G G S, who had served the country for 03 years, took place on Saturday, 15th March 2025 evening at Naranowita General Cemetery. His comrades-in-arms, grieving loved ones, and a sea of mourners gathered in solemn tribute to bid him a dignified farewell.
Major General T C Peiris RSP USP, Chief Field Engineer of the Sri Lanka Army attended the funeral to pay his last respect along with Brigadier F Joseph USP, Centre Commandant SLE, Senior Officers and Officers of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
Sapper Viraj G G S belonged to the 14 CBRNE Response Regiment SLE. He was a distinguished Sapper soldier who devoted a significant portion of his life to the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and the Sri Lanka Army. Renowned as an exceptional sportsman as he represented the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Boxing team and his remarkable achievements brought immense pride and honor to the Corps.
As the final rites were performed with military precision and heartfelt reverence, his fellow sapper soldiers stood resolute, saluting the final journey of Sapper Viraj G G S who had given his all in service to his country. Though his time was brief, his impact was profound, and his memory will remain etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
