SAPPER OFFICERS’ TRAINING DAY UNVEILED AT THE REGIMENTAL CENTRE, CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS

The Officers’ Training Day, followed by a Diners’ Club, was successfully held on Wednesday, 17th September 2025 at the Regimental Centre, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

The day commenced with an invigorating physical training session, setting the tone for a disciplined and energetic programme. This was followed by drill training at the Parade Ground, including foot and sword drills, which underscored the precision, discipline, and teamwork of officers.

A series of insightful lecture sessions enriched the day’s proceedings. Key topics included Overseas Experiences on Bridging, Fortifications, Mines and Blasting, and New Trends in Responding to Chemical Incidents, fostering valuable knowledge-sharing among participants.

The evening programme was marked by the Diners’ Club, graced by the presence of Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. The distinguished guest speaker, Wg Cdr (Dr) KGLK Kapugama (Retd) RWP RSP, delivered a timely and thoughtprovoking lecture on Artificial Intelligence: A Force Multiplier for the Modern Military.

This initiative not only demonstrated the Corps’ steadfast commitment to professional development and modernization but also reinforced its pivotal role in preparing officers to meet contemporary challenges with foresight, resilience, and innovation.
