The Wrestling Championship of the 49th National Sports Festival 2025 took place 25th to 27th July 2025 at the Indoor Stadium of Kelaniya University, where 05 Sapper Wrestlers representing the Army team displayed remarkable skill and determination. Their hard work paid off as they secured a total of 05 medals, including 02 gold, 02 silver, and 01 bronze.
Among the standout performers, the Sappers demonstrated exceptional techniques and strategic mastery throughout the competition, showcasing their dedication to excellence. Their impressive performances highlighted not only their individual talent but also their collective commitment to the sport.
The following Sapper players represented the Army team and earned medals during the championship:
Gold Medals
1. Cpl Sampath Kumara MG of 8 SLE - 86 Kg Weight Category
2. L/Cpl Chandrasekara HPTP of 8 SLE - 61 Kg Weight Category
Silver Medals
1. L/Cpl Kumara UGRS of 8 SLE - 125 Kg Weight Category
2. L/Cpl Chandima UWS of 8 SLE - 65 Kg Weight Category
Bronze Medal
1. L/Cpl Pushpakumara HPD of 4(V) SLE - 57 Kg Weight Category
