OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE COLONEL COMMANDANT TO THE SRI LANKA SCHOOL OF MILITARY ENGINEERING

Major General DKSK Dolage USP nps psc, the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers paid an official visit to the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering on Monday, 29 September 2025.

The programme commenced with the Colonel Commandant being accorded a Drive Pass at the main entrance and warmly received by Colonel JACS Jagoda psc the Commandant of SLSME. Following this formal reception, the Colonel Commandant planted a sapling, symbolizing growth and commitment to the future.

After the welcoming ceremony, the Commandant delivered a comprehensive briefing highlighting the ongoing training programs, current developments, and future plans aimed at uplifting standards of SLSME, the premier training institute for Military Engineering.

A key highlight of the visit was the launching of revised textbooks, compiled by the dedicated staff of SLSME. This updated curriculum aligns with modern training methods and the “Sri Lanka Army’s Way Forward Strategy 2030 and Beyond.” The revised textbooks will serve as a guidance for all instructors and trainees of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, enhancing their knowledge and professional competencies.

Subsequently the Colonel Commandant addressed the troops and during the troop address, the Colonel Commandant emphasized the importance of leading by example, urging all Officers and ORs to remain vigilant against dangerous drugs and illegal activities. He further encouraged active participation and support for the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, underscoring the Army’s commitment towards national wellbeing.

The visit included an extensive tour of the camp, during which the Colonel Commandant visited key facilities including the Field Engineering model room, the EOD equipment yard, the Sappers’ Mess and the ongoing construction of the new Officers’ Mess. This inspection allowed the Colonel Commandant to assess the infrastructure and resources supporting the training environment. Thereafter the Colonel Commandant concluded the camp visit.

The programme was also attended by Chief Filed Engineer - Brigadier CD Wickramanayake WV RSP ndc, Overlooking Commander Engineer Division and Commander Field Engineer Brigade - Brigadier HKP Karunathilaka RSP and the Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Engineers Colonel RM Subasinghe RSP.
