OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE COLONEL COMMANDANT TO THE PLANT ENGINEER BRIGADE AND 7 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT

Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, paid an official visit to the 7 Field Engineer Regiment at Minneriya and the Plant Engineer Brigade at Kantale on Friday, 05th September 2025.

The visit commenced at the 7 Field Engineer Regiment, where the Colonel Commandant was accorded a Drive Pass at the main entrance and warmly welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel W M A B Warnasooriya USP psc SLE, the Commanding Officer. A comprehensive briefing on the regiment’s operational roles, deployments, and overall performance was conducted by the Commanding Officer, followed by a group photograph with the officers. Addressing the troops, the Colonel Commandant emphasized resilience in overcoming challenges, endorsed the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative, and highlighted the Army’s role in inspiring wider community participation in national development. He also planted a sapling to mark the occasion, toured the camp premises, interacted cordially with all ranks during a tea gathering, and signed the Visitors’ Book before departing.

Subsequently, the Colonel Commandant proceeded to the Plant Engineer Brigade at Kantale, where he was accorded a Drive Pass and warmly received by Brigadier K A S J Kodithuwakku USP ptsc, the Commander Plant Engineer Brigade. The formal programme began with a detailed briefing at the Brigade Headquarters by the Brigade Commander, highlighting the brigade’s vital role in construction, infrastructure development, and support to national projects, along with its ongoing operational commitments. A group photograph was then taken with the officers, followed by a troop address in which the Colonel Commandant commended the brigade’s dedication to both military and civil engineering tasks. He underscored the importance of professional excellence, innovation, and environmental responsibility in fulfilling the brigade’s mission.

To mark the visit, the Colonel Commandant toured the camp premises and engaged in cordial interactions with officers and soldiers. The programme concluded with the signing of the Visitors’ Book, leaving behind a memorable token of his official visit.
