Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, made an official visit to the Field Engineer Brigade and 8 Field Engineer Regiment on Tuesday, 11th March 2025.
Upon his arrival, he was accorded a ceremonial drive-past and warmly received by Brigadier H K P Karunathilaka RSP, the Brigade Commander of the Field Engineer Brigade, Brigadier F Joseph USP, the Centre Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, along with Major A U Hidellaarachchi RSP USP SLE, the Commanding Officer of the 8 Field Engineer Regiment.
Following the formal reception, Major General Lanka Amarapala addressed the troops, stressing the significance of discipline and urging them to abstain from any unlawful activities. He highlighted the importance of maintaining close coordination with law enforcement authorities and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to national programs, including the government’s “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative. He emphasized the military’s vital role in environmental conservation and the nation’s sustainability efforts. Additionally, he underscored the importance of national security, as well as the physical and mental well-being of soldiers, as key pillars of their service.
During the visit, Major General Lanka Amarapala participated in a tea reception with all ranks, engaging in discussions with the personnel and conveying his appreciation for the well-organized arrangements. Later, he addressed the officers, encouraging them to embrace evolving societal changes while remaining dedicated to their duties. He reiterated the Army’s significant role in national development projects, particularly the “Clean Sri Lanka” program, and urged active involvement in achieving this shared objective. Major General Lanka Amarapala also joined the officers for a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
The visit concluded with Major General Lanka Amarapala signing the Visitors’ Book, leaving a message of appreciation for the dedication and contributions of the Field Engineer Brigade and the 8 Field Engineer Regiment.
