MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc COMMENDS RETIRING LIEUTENANT COLONEL UGS WIJENAYAKE’S NOTABLE SERVICE

Lieutenant Colonel U G S Wijenayake USP psc SLE of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers was invited, prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army having completed more than 25 years of service in the Army, by Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, to his office on 11 January 2025 at Regimental Centre, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

Lieutenant Colonel Sanath Wijenayake joined the Sri Lanka Army on 6th June 1999 and served with distinction in both operational and non-operational areas. Throughout his illustrious career, he held various Command, Staff, and Instructional appointments, showcasing his versatility and dedication. Prior to his retirement, he had the honor of commanding the prestigious 1 Field Engineer Regiment, leaving behind a legacy of exemplary leadership and service.

During the call on, the Colonel Commandant extoled the Senior Officer for his unwavering dedication and exemplary performance in a variety of challenging roles throughout his service to the Army. In response, Lieutenant Colonel U G S Wijenayake expressed profound gratitude for the steadfast guidance and support given to him by all Senior Officers and Officers during his tour of duty.

Towards the end of the interactions, the Colonel Commandant presented a special memento to the retiring Senior Officer as a symbol of appreciation and commendation made by him to the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and to the Army.
