MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc ASSUMES DUTIES AS DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, officially assumed duties as the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) of the Sri Lanka Army on 14th February 2025. his prestigious appointment makes him the third senior-most appointment in the Sri Lanka Army.

The formal ceremony commenced with the chanting of Seth Pirith by the Maha Sangha, invoking blessings for Major General Lanka Amarapala's tenure ahead. In a symbolic gesture of assuming office, he signed an official document, marking the commencement of his responsibilities as the Deputy Chief of Staff. The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG visited the DCOS office after the assumption of duties and extended his best wishes to Major General Lanka Amarapala.

Major General Lanka Amarapala's distinguished career includes recent key appointments such as the Overlooking Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Commander Security Forces (West), and Overall Operations Commander (Western Province & Puttalam District). These roles have honed his strategic and operational expertise, equipping him to excel in his new position.

The ceremonial event was graced by Principal Staff Officers, Directors, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks at the Deputy Chief of Staff’s office. They extended their heartfelt best wishes to Major General Lanka Amarapala, expressing confidence in his leadership and vision for the Army as he embarks on this significant responsibility.
