In a significant move to enhance the welfare and living standards of Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers, the newly constructed two-storied accommodation building at the Regimental Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess was declared open by Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, on 09 November 2025, concurrently with the 74th Anniversary celebrations of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
The project was initiated on 26 August 2024 under the visionary guidance of Major General Lanka Amarapala (Retd) RWP RSP ndc psc, the former Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. It was designed to address the pressing accommodation needs of Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers, reaffirming the Corps’ enduring commitment to the welfare and well-being of its personnel.
The newly built accommodation complex provides modern, comfortable, and functional living spaces, offering a lasting solution to the longstanding accommodation challenges faced by personnel attached to the Regimental Centre and the 1 Field Engineer Regiment. This initiative stands as a testament to the Corps’ dedication to continuous improvement in both infrastructure and personnel welfare.
During the inauguration, Major General D K S K Dolage highly commended the construction team for their exceptional professionalism, efficiency, and quality workmanship, appreciating their efforts in completing the project within the stipulated time frame while maintaining the highest construction standards.
The ceremony was attended by Council Members, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers and cross section of Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers of the Corps, marking another milestone in the progressive development of Sappers.
