The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers successfully conducted a Hospital Beds Donation Programme on 03 January 2026, reaffirming its commitment to community welfare and social responsibility.
Under this initiative, both electrical and manual hospital beds were donated to beneficiaries in the Gampaha and Buthpitiya areas. One bed was donated to a needy individual, while four beds were provided to the Gampaha Pradeshiya Sabha Ayurveda Clinics. Additionally, one bed was donated to the MOH Office, Buthpitiya, thereby enhancing public healthcare services in the area.
Recognizing the importance of student welfare, one hospital bed each was donated to the First Aid Sections of Buthpitiya Primary School and Buthpitiya Maha Vidyalaya to support medical emergencies within the school environment.
All donated beds were renovated to excellent condition by a team of 16 personnel from the Workshop Regiment SLE under the guidance of Brigadier C D Wickramanayake WV RSP ndc, Chief Field Engineer of the Sri Lanka Army. The programme was coordinated by the Vice President of the SLE Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Geetha Wickramanayake, under the guidance and leadership of the President, Mrs. Lilanthi Dolage, with the assistance of past SLE Seva Vanitha member Mrs. Pradeepa Arachchige, ensuring the successful implementation of this meaningful welfare initiative.
This initiative reflects the compassion, professionalism, and service-oriented values of the SLE Seva Vanitha Branch in supporting community wellbeing.
