FORGING THE BRIDGING EXPERTISE: FIELD ENGINEER BRIGADE CONCLUDES INTENSIVE CONSTRUCTION COURSE

The Field Engineer Brigade successfully conducted an intensive Field Engineer Construction Course from 01 May 2025 to 15 May 2025. The program saw the participation of 3 Officers and 44 Other Rankers representing all Engineer units of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, highlighting the importance placed on enhancing bridging expertise within the military.

The comprehensive curriculum provided both theoretical and practical knowledge on various bridge types, including Bailey, Tatto, Compact 100, and Compact 200 bridges. Participants engaged in practical exercises such as constructing towers and stages using bridge components, and their understanding was assessed through examinations covering the different bridge systems. Colonel TM Piros Jalal, the Colonel Project of the Field Engineer Brigade, emphasized the significance of this training during his opening remarks.

Notably, the course was attended by upcoming Field ASMs, underscoring a proactive approach to equipping future leaders with essential knowledge for emergency preparedness. The focus on both theory and hands-on application aimed to ensure that participants could effectively utilize their skills in real world scenarios, strengthening the overall operational readiness of their respective units.

The conclusion of the course was marked by a closing address by the Commander Field Engineer Brigade, Brigadier HKP Karunathilake RSP. Sharing his own experiences in bridge construction, he inspired the participants and reiterated his commitment to developing a new generation of skilled engineers in this critical field. The successful completion of this course signifies step forward in reinforcing the bridging capabilities of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
