The Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers bid a heartfelt farewell to Major General S P G Gamage RWP RSP USP on 14th February 2025, in recognition of his illustrious military career spanning over 34 years in the Sri Lanka Army.
The day began with a splendid Guard Turnout presented by the troops of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. Major General Pradeep Gamage paid tribute to the fallen heroes by laying a floral wreath at the Fallen War Heroes Monument, reflecting his enduring respect for their sacrifice. Following this solemn moment, a vibrant Guard of Honour was accorded to him at the Regimental Parade Ground, symbolizing the Corps' gratitude and admiration. A convivial tea party was held at the Regimental Officers' Mess, attended by Regimental Council Members, Senior Officers, and Officers of the Corps. This gathering provided an opportunity for camaraderie and expressions of gratitude for Major General Pradeep Gamage's leadership and contributions.
The evening culminated in a Farewell Dinner Night, hosted in honor of the retiring senior officer. The event was graced by a large assembly of Sapper Officers and their spouses. Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, delivered an inspiring farewell address. He lauded Major General Pradeep Gamage’s distinguished service and his unwavering commitment to the Corps and the nation. In his response, Major General Pradeep Gamage expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Colonel Commandant, All ranks of the Corps, and the members of the SLE Seva Vanitha Branch for their unwavering support and camaraderie throughout his service.
The Sapper family extended their sincere wishes to Major General Pradeep Gamage for his future endeavors, celebrating his enduring legacy of dedication and leadership within the Sri Lanka Army.
