CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS BIDS FAREWELL TO RETIRING MAJOR GENERAL D B L COLONNE USP

On Monday, 9th December 2024, the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers ceremoniously bade farewell to Major General D B L Colonne USP, marking the conclusion of his illustrious 34-year tenure in the Sri Lanka Army. The day’s events, steeped in military tradition and heartfelt camaraderie, reflected the profound respect and admiration earned by the retiring senior officer.

The proceedings commenced with a Guard Turnout and a vibrant Guard of Honour at the Regimental Parade Ground, symbolizing the Corps' appreciation for his exemplary service. These formalities were followed by a convivial tea party at the Regimental Officers' Mess, attended by members of the Regimental Council, Senior Officers, and other distinguished Officers of the Corps.

The evening culminated in a grand Farewell Dinner Night, hosted in honor of Major General Bandula Colonne. The event saw a large gathering of Sapper Officers and their spouses. During the dinner, Major General D K S K Dolage USP psc, the Commandant of the Defence Services Command and Staff College and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps, delivered a heartfelt farewell note, on behalf of the Colonel Commandant who is away from the country for an official commitment, and lauded Major General Bandula Colonne’s exceptional service, unwavering dedication, and outstanding contributions to the Corps and the Army at large.

In his response, Major General Bandula Colonne expressed his gratitude to the Colonel Commandant and all ranks of the Corps for their steadfast support and camaraderie throughout his career. He also extended special thanks to the members of the SLE Seva Vanitha Branch, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to his journey in the Army.
