In a commendable display of unity, compassion, and commitment to uplifting lives, the 8 Field Engineer Regiment of the Sri Lanka Engineers successfully completed the construction of a new house for a deserving civil servant attached to the unit.
Under the guidance of the Commander Security Force (Wanni), this welfare initiative was fully undertaken by the officers and other ranks of the regiment, with generous support from INSEE Cement (Lanka) Ltd. The project aimed to improve the living standards of a committed civilian who has faithfully served alongside the unit.
The house was built with essential facilities including a kitchen, living area, and bedrooms, offering a safe and comfortable living space. The construction was completed within a commendable time frame, showcasing the regiment’s technical skill and dedication.
The official opening ceremony was held recently on 23 March 2025 at the site, with Major General KMPSB Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Force (Wanni), gracing the event as the Chief Guest. He warmly commended the Commanding Officer, Maj Asanka Hidallaarachchi RSP USP SLE and All ranks of the 8 Field Engineer Regiment for their exceptional effort.
Brigadier General Staff and staff officers of SFHQ(W), Colonel Project of Field Engineer Brigade, and all ranks of the regiment were also present to witness the emotional moment as the civil servant and his family stepped into their new home with joy and appreciation.
This initiative reflects the strong commitment of the 8 Field Engineer Regiment to welfare and community support, going beyond their call of duty to make a lasting impact.
