14 CBRNE RESPONSE REGIMENT CONDUCTS SPECIALIZED SECURITY AWARENESS TRAINING AT WELIGAMA BAY MARRIOTT RESORT & SPA

The 14 CBRNE Response Regiment Successfully conduct a comprehensive security awareness training programme on Explosive Identification and Hazardous Article Handling for the security personnel of Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa, with special emphasis on guest baggage screening procedures.

The training was designed to enhance the knowledge and practical awareness of hotel security staff in identifying potential explosive threats and hazardous items that may be encountered during routine screening operations. The programme focused on strengthening preventive security measures in line with international hospitality safety standards.

Key topics covered during the session included:

I. Fundamental concepts of explosive identification and threat recognition.

II. Awareness of improvised explosive device (IED) Components.

III. Identification of Hazardous and restricted articles in guest baggage.

IV. Safe handling, isolation, and reporting procedures for suspicious items.

V. Immediate actions to be taken during a suspected security threat.

The programme combined theoretical instruction with operational awareness, enabling participants to better understand real-world threat indicators and appropriate response mechanisms. This initiative contributes significantly to enhancing the resort’s overall security preparedness and resilience.

This training programme further strengthened the security preparedness of WELIGAMA BAY MARRIOTT RESORT &SPA and reinforced effective collaboration between the hospitality sector and National Response Unit.
