14 CBRNE RESPONSE REGIMENT CONDUCT EXPLOSIVE ORDINANCE LECTURE TO SLAF AVIATION UNIT PRE-DEPLOYMENT TRAINING COURSE AT IPSOT – SL KUKULEGAGA

The importance of specialized knowledge in mitigating high-risk scenarios was underscored recently as the 14 CBRNE Response Regiment provided critical instruction to the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Aviation Unit.

An in-depth lecture was delivered on Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) on 31 October 2025, as a key component of the Aviation Unit's crucial pre-deployment training course. The lecture was specifically designed to enhance the operational readiness and safety protocols of the Air Force personnel before their deployment. The instruction covered essential areas of EOD, including; Recognition and Identification: Training personnel to accurately identify various types of explosive ordnance and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Safety Procedures: Emphasizing the necessary standoff distances, immediate actions, and security measures upon discovering suspected ordnance. Coordination Protocols: Detailing the effective communication and handover procedures between the SLAF unit and specialized EOD response teams, such as those from the 14 CBRNE Response Regiment.

By sharing the regiment's extensive experience and technical knowledge, it ensured that the SLAF Aviation Unit members are better equipped to handle situations involving unexploded ordnance they may encounter in the field, minimizing risk to themselves and mission assets.

Such collaboration ensures a high standard of operational readiness across all arms of the military, proving that a comprehensive understanding of threats like EOD is paramount for successful and safe deployment.
