The funeral of Brigadier Panduka Perera, Commander, 563 Brigade of the Security Force HQ-Wanni who passed away on Friday (31) while receiving treatment for post-recovery medical complications of the COVID-19 virus at the Infectious Disease Hospital at Mulleriyawa took place at Eldeniya cemetery this afternoon (3) amidst military honours and a gathering of his close military colleagues, family members and mourners.

In line with the Christmas celebration troops of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) took their own initiative of charity to donate dry rations for the needy children housed in several places located in the area. The children of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Church at Warakapola, ‘Ape Lamai’ Organization - Our Kids - Special education school at Ambepussa, and ‘Mahabodhi’ Child Development Center at Mirigama, and were benefited from these distribution made on 24 December 2021 evening.

As a part of the ongoing housing project of the Sri Lanka Army in keeping with instructions that have been issued by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army, a new house built by the troops of 15 Volunteer Battalion, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment was vested in the disabled war hero Lance Corporal D. M. C Shirantha of 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment by Major General Kithsiri Liyanage, General Officer Commanding 11 Division and Colonel of the Regiment SLSR on 10th December 2021 during a simple warming ceremony and handed over the key to the recipient.
