The troops of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) bade farewell to Major General Keertihi Bandara upon his retirement from the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army after serving more than 34 years. The brief ceremony was held at the Regimental Centre (RC) Ambepussa on 16 March 2022, attended by a representative gathering of Officers and Other Ranks.
The formalities observed at RC SLSR premises in keeping with military traditions review with the Guard Turnout, accorded by SLSR troops soon after he arrived at the entrance. Deputy Centre Commandant RC SLSR, Colonel Dulitha Perera welcomed the day’s Chief Guest at the entrance.
The Retiring Senior Officer afterward received by the Commandant RC SLSR, Brigadier Viraj Wimalasena right before he was accorded an elegant parade in the formal Guard of Honour, SLSR troops saluted him at the Regimental Parade ground.
Subsequently, he made a floral tribute at the SLSR war Heroes monument and saluted the memory of fallen War Heroes as a part of the day’s itinerary.
Afterward, the retiring senior officer joined All Ranks refreshments at the Warrant Officers and Sergeants' Mess.
Later, the retiring senior officer posed for a group photograph before attending the customary ‘Dining Out’ hosted for outgoing Major General Keerthi Bandara and Mrs. Paranalatha Panditharathna by Senior Officers, Officers, and their Spouses in the Regimental Officers’ Mess.
On the same occasion, a special memento was presented to Major General Keerthi Bandara by Commander Security Force – West and the Colonel of the Regiment SLSR in appreciation of dedicated and committed services, rendered to the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
Marking farewell remarks, Major General Keerthi Bandara spoke to All Officers gathered at the function and expressed his gratitude for the assistance and the support given by all in carrying out his duties as a member of the Sinha family.
Senior Officers, Staff Officers, Officers of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, and their spouses attended the dining out held at the Officers’ Mess.
