Renovated Gymnasium was declared open at Regimental Head quarters by the Provost Marshal of SL Army and Col Comdt- SLCMP - Brigadier DKGD Sirisena USP at 0915 hrs on 8 August 2017 with the invitation of the Centre Comdt. Col Comdt addressed the troops at the Gym and emphasized the importance of the Gym and to utilize it with care. Thereafter Col Comdt and Officers visited the construction site of WOs' & Sgts' Mess.

Retirement party of provost batch No 40 was held at Laya Beach - Wadduwa from 1900 hrs onwards on 22 July 2017. Colonel of the Regiment & the Provost Marshal of Sri Lanka Army, Brigadier D K G D Sirisena USP graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the event. Centre Comdt and many Snr Officers of the regiment and all members of the Provost Batch no 40, participated for the occasion with their families. Members of the Provost Batch no 40 were appreciated by the Col Comdt for the service rendered by them. Also they and their families were presented with tokens of appreciation.

Col Comdt visited the construction areas of the Regimental Headquarters, 1 SLCMP and SIU on 19 July 2017. Centre Comdt, CO - SIU, CO - 1 SLCMP other officers and Regimental Sergeant Major of RHQ, 1 SLCMP and SIU were participated for the visit.

Lt Col HAHC Alwis assumed duties as the Commanding Officer of the 5th Regiment Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police on 06 July 2017. Newly appointed Commanding officer was warmly welcomed by all Officers of the unit. A Guard Turnout and a parade were held in honor of the new Commanding Officer of 5 SLCMP.

Inter Unit Drill Competition was held on 30 June 2017 at Girithale. Well trained drill platoons from 1 SLCMP, 2 SLCMP, 3 SLCMP, 4 SLCMP, 5 SLCMP and a combined platoon from 6 & 7 SLCMP participated for the competition. Colonel Commandant graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Senior Officers, Officers, RSMs, SNCOs an NCOs participated for the event. First place secured by 2 SLCMP and Second place by - 1 SLCMP. Captain BGTD Bandara of 2 SLCMP awarded as the Best Commander of the competition, and S/Sgt Gunasekara DMR was awarded as the Best Drill Instructor.

Passing out parade of Provost Course 71 was held at School of Military Police at Girithale on 12 June 2017. Brig DKGD Sirisena USP (Provost Marshal & Col Comdt SLCMP) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest with the invitation of Commandant School of Military Police and many snr offrs attended the event. 255 recruits of our Regiment have completed their Recruit Course successfully.

The 20th Anniversary celebration of Special Investigation Unit – SLCMP was held on 06th of June 2017. There was a bodhi puja ceremony held at Saripuththaramaya - Narahenpita on 01st of June 2017 in view of offering merits to KIA, MIA and WIA Officers and Soldiers in SLCMP under the patronage of the Commanding Officer.

Vesak Lantern competition held at the "Buddha Rashmi" National Vesak Zone - Gangaramaya on 10 May 2017 to 14 May 2017. The Lantern was made of using natural raw material and it was produced by 1 SLCMP with the directions of Colonel Commandant, Centre Commandant and other Officers.
