Basic Disaster Response Training Course no 09 was started with the opening remarks by Maj Gen C D Ranasinghe RWP RSP, GOC – 58 Inf Div on 22nd February 2021 at the Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training (SLACDRT) Gampola. 2 x Offrs & 102 x ORs from 1st Gemunu Watch & 1 x Offr & 34 x ORs from 5th Vijayaba Infantry Regiment attended for the course. The Course is scheduled to be terminated on 10th April 2021.

Basic Disaster Response Training Course no 08 was concluded with the closing remarks by Lt Col SGALW Sapugoda RWP RSP GR, SO 1 - SLACDRT on 17th February 2021 at the Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training (SLACDRT) Gampola. 1 x Offr & 32 x ORs from 1st Gamunu Watch & 2 x Offrs & 83 x ORs from 5th Vijayaba Infantry Regiment attended for the course. O/70232 Capt BMCH Wickramasena VIR awarded as the best overall performer of Basic Disaster Response Training Course no 08.

The final exercise 'Exercise Lending Hand' was conducted with course attenders of Basic Disaster Response Course No - 8 at the Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training (SLACDRT) on 16 February 2021 in the general area Kotmale reservoir at the end of their 40 days training periods. Brigadier J M S G B Jayamaha RWP RSP USP, Commander 583 Infantry Brigade graced the glamorous occasion as the Chief Guest.
