Col RMC Rathnayake RWP RSP USP assumed duties as the 3rd commandant of Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training (SLACDRT) Gampola at the auspicious time on 19 November 2021 amid the religious observances. The newly appointed commandant was honored in a guard turn out at the entrance of the SLACDRT. Thereafter, planted a mango sapling at the premises of SLACDRT to mark the event.

First Responder Basic Search and Rescue - General Course 2020-2021
The “International Search and Rescue Advisory Group’’ (INSARAG) First Responder Basic Search and Rescue - General Course conducted from 21st September 2021 to 25th September 2021 at Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training (SLACDRT) – Gampola. The proceedings were started with the opening remarks by Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe (Rtd) RWP RSP MSc ndu psc – Director General, Disaster Management Centre through the zoom technology. The course was successfully organized with the directions of Disaster Management Centre and under the supervision of Colonel Anil Somaweera RWP RSP USP MSc the Commandant - Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training (SLACDRT). The ToT course was organized with the prime aim of enhancing and sharing the knowledge of instructors/other officials who participated from different organizations and establishments and directly involve in disaster relief. Refresher Course for “EXERCISE BOOTS ON GROUND - 2021” has commenced with the opening remarks by Col Anil Somaweera RWP RSP USP, Commandant SLACDRT on 26th July 2021 at the Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training Gampola. 25 x 560 tps attended for the refresher course under command battalions of 58 Infantry Division and course will be conducted in two phases, Disaster management phase and Life Saving phase. The Course is scheduled to be terminated on 21st August 2021.

Col HVA Somaweera RWP RSP USP has assumed duties as the Commandant of SLACDRT at the auspicious time on 12 July 2021. On his arrival, at the SLACDRT main gate, he was welcomed by Lt Col Lakshen Sapugoda RSP, SO - I (Admin). Thereafter, plant a sapling for mark the arrival. Then he visited the camp premises and the training areas subsequently. After that he addressed the troops and stated the importance of professional competencies through the proper training. Basic Disaster Response Training Course no – 09 and Junior Life Saving Course No – 12 were concluded with the closing remarks by Col BPGK Balasooriya RSP psc, Comd 582 Inf Bde on 11th April 2021 at the Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training (SLACDRT) Gampola. 02 x Offrs & 102 x ORs from 1st Gamunu Watch and 01 x Offr &32 x ORs from 5th Vijayaba Infantry Regiment attended for Basic Disaster Response Training Course No - 09. O/69453 Capt LWPD Weerasooriya GW awarded as the best overall performer of Basic Disaster Response Training Course no 09.

On his arrival at the SLACDRT main gate he was welcomed by the Col KPSA Amarakoon RSP Commandant SLACDRT. Later, a brief presentation on role, task, functions and administrative aspects of the Centre was conducted by the Commandant, SLACDRT.
