The 21 Infantry Division proudly commemorated its 38th Anniversary on 04 April 2026 with a series of religious, military, and recreational events, reflecting its proud legacy and steadfast commitment to national service.
The anniversary celebrations were conducted under the guidance of Major General T N K Perera, General Officer Commanding of the 21 Infantry Division, with the participation of senior officers, officers, other ranks, and civilian staff. The events fostered unity, cohesion, and a strong sense of regimental spirit within the Division.
The programme commenced on 02 April 2026 with an Inter-Branch Cricket Tournament between the G Branch and A Branch. The tournament promoted teamwork, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among officers and other ranks, adding enthusiasm and competitive spirit to the celebrations.
On the same evening, all ranks, together with civilian staff, took part in a Bodhi Pooja ceremony held at the sacred Ruwanweli Maha Seya in Anuradhapura. The religious observance was conducted to invoke blessings upon serving members and to pay tribute to fallen war heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
The main events were held on 04 April 2026, commencing with a formal Guard Turnout accorded to the General Officer Commanding, in line with long-standing military traditions. This was followed by a group photograph, symbolizing unity and pride of the Division.
Subsequently, an All Ranks Tea Party was held, providing an opportunity for interaction and strengthening bonds among officers and soldiers. The celebrations culminated with an All Ranks Lunch, further enhancing camaraderie, esprit de corps, and togetherness among all members of the Division.
The 38th Anniversary stands as a testament to the 21 Infantry Division’s enduring legacy, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to safeguarding the nation while upholding the proud traditions of the Sri Lanka Army.
