Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) proudly commemorated its 28th Anniversary under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces (Wanni) , Major General K M P S B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, with a series of religious and military events held in March 2026.
The anniversary celebrations commenced with multi-religious observances, including ceremonies at the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura, followed by religious programmes at St. Anthony’s Church, Kandasamy Kovil, and the Jummah Mosque in Vavuniya. In addition, a Seth Pirith chanting ceremony was conducted within the camp premises, invoking blessings for the well-being of all ranks and continued success of the Security Forces (Wanni).
In line with the anniversary, a number of events were organized with the active participation of troops serving in the Wanni area. The Commander, Security Forces (Wanni), was accorded a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour by the 7th Regiment of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, reflecting the rich military traditions and discipline of the Army.
Subsequently, the Commander, Security Forces (Wanni), attended the group photograph and planted a Ceylon Ebony sapling inside the headquarters premises as a symbol of memory. Afterwards, the Commander, Security Forces (Wanni), addressed the troops, followed by all ranks lunch.
Marking the occasion on a celebratory note, a colourful musical evening was organized with the participation of senior officers, officers, and Other Ranks of Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), fostering camaraderie and esprit the corps among all participants.
