Under the guidance and direction of the Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Army, a comprehensive and insightful lecture on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) was conducted on 1st October 2025 at the Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), aiming to promote health awareness and prevention strategies among military personnel. Further, eighty-four officers and two hundred fifty four Other Ranks and Senior Non-commissioned officers were physically participated the session at Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) while hundred ninety-seven Officers and two thousand one hundred eighty Other Ranks and Senior Non-commissioned officers joined virtually via Zoom, connecting from 47 locations.
The programme was led by a panel of esteemed medical professionals from Directorate of Army Preventive Medicine and Mental Health Services including Dr Brigadier A S M Wijewardena USP (Retd) MBBS MRCP (UK) FRCP (UK) - Consultant Physician, Dr Bridadier R M M Monaragala USP - Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Major P A S D Jothipala Consultant Community Physician and Major A C K Udugama - Dietician. Moreover, the key topics covered during the session were, Good Habits for a Long and Healthy Life, Stress Management, Nutrition and Dietary Practices.
