WORLD CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION WITH THE SUPPORT OF MALIYADEVA GIRLS’ SCHOOL AT MN/SIRUKKANDAL R.C.T.M.S.

To commemorate World Children’s Day and to strengthen harmony and peace between the North and South, a special donation programme was conducted on 29 September 2025 at MN/Sirukkandal R.C.T.M.S. The initiative was held under the direct guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 54 Infantry Division, Major General A M C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc, and organized by the 542 Infantry Brigade.

Mrs. Nirodha Abeywickrama, Principal of Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala, together with her team of dedicated teachers and students, generously donated essential school supplies to the children of MN/Sirukkandal R C T M S and MN/Isamalathativ R C T M S These contributions will serve as valuable support to the students in their academic journey.

The children of both schools warmly welcomed the visiting team, creating a memorable atmosphere of friendship, unity, and mutual respect.

The programme was successfully planned and executed by the 8th Battalion, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, under the supervision of the Commander, 542 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier A R W C Asurasingha RWP RSP USP, with the coordination of the Civil Affairs Officer, 542 Infantry Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel W A N D Jayasundara VIR.
