Corporal K P M N Gunasekara of 2 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps serving at the 54 Infantry Division Headquarters acted as a Good Samaritan by returning a wallet containing Rs. 102,220.00 bank books, and several other valuable documents to its rightful owner.
It happened while she was in Mannar town to make a money transfer at the bank on 11 February 2025.
She found the wallet and handed it over to the Mannar Police Station. The police then contacted the owner, Ms. Sundararasa Merry Sudarshani of Tachchanamaradamadu, Palampiddi, and returned it to her at the station. The owner expressed her gratitude and praised Corporal Gunasekara for her honesty. Moreover, the General Officer Commanding summoned her to the office and appreciated her exemplary conduct.
Furthermore, the Officer-in-Charge of the Mannar Police Station commended her with a letter of appreciation.
