59 INFANTRY DIVISION PROUDLY MARKS ITS 17TH ANNIVERSARY

59 Infantry Division commemorated its 17th anniversary on 01st December 2024 with an array of events at the 59 Infantry Division premises in Mulative under the gracious participation of Major General D.R.N. Hettiarachchi RWP RSP USP, Commander 59 Infantry Division (GOC) as the Chief Guest.

In par with the 17th anniversary, a Bodhi Pooja programme was organized on 29th (Friday) at the camp premises temple with the participation of the Commander 59 Infantry Division, to involve the blessings for the staff, their families and the fallen War Heroes who sacrificed their lives for the motherland. The venerable Sri Thissapura Gunaratne Thero of the Kokilai temple played the key role of the religious event.

On the the anniversary day, a formal Guard Turnout to the Commander 59 Infantry Division, was accorded by the troops from the 10 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and he subsequently received the salute from the ceremonial Guard of Honour by the troops from 5 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. The Commander 59 Infantry Division, was warmly welcomed by Brigadier K H N P Hannadige RWP RSP psc, the Deputy General Officer Commanding of 59 Infantry Division at the entrance.

Afterward, a special dry ration packs were donated to the civil staff of the 59 Infantry Division by the GOC, followed by the All Ranks lunch with the staff of 59 Infantry Division including the civil staff. On 06 December 2024, as the final element of this anniversary, a musical concert was held at the Divisional Sports Ground, where the “Gajaba Crystal” band of the 22 Gajaba Regiment and performed music for the enjoyment of the soldiers.

Further 17 anniversary of the 59 Infantry Division successfully completed with the participation of General Officer Commanding , Deputy General Officer Commanding , All Brigade Commanders, All Commanding Officers and All ranks of the 59 Infantry Division.
