EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES THROUGH SOLAR PANELS BY WANNI TROOPS

With the concept of the Commander Security Forces (W) Major General J P C Peiris RWP RSP ndc, empowering the living condition of the people in Muthiyankaddu, Mankulam area, an initiative launched with the guidance of Major General D R N Hettiarachi RWP RSP USP, General Officer Commanding of 59 Infantry Division to distribute complete Solar Panels with battery and bulbs among the 40 identified low income families. Encouraging new generation in athletics and empowering them to excel in sport a pair of athletic shoes donated to16 years old Jayakanthan Vidushan student of Muthiyankaddu Tamil Mixed School who performed well and secured first place in all Island marathon 3000 m event in 2024.

The donations were coordinated and supervise by Brigadier P G C S Gallage RWP RSP, Commander 592 Infantry Brigade and with Commanding Officer of 5 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and his team organized successful and colorful event at the battalion headquarters in Mankulam on 29 November 2024. Senior Officers, Other Ranks and members of beneficiary families took part in the event.
