In line with the 75th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, Troops of the 8 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment completed the construction of a house by labor contribution for a needy Army Solder S/100613 L/CPL Jerram A - SLEME in Jeewanagar, Murunkan on 12 October 2024.
The project was completed under the directions of Major General J.P.C Peiris RWP RSP ndc, the Commander of the Security Forces (Wanni), and the guidance of Major General R P A R P Rajapaksha RSP, , General Officer Commanding of the 54 Infantry Division. Brigadier T E M Chandrasakara RWP psc, Commander 542 Infantry Brigade supervised the project.
Major S H R G De Silva RSP psc, the Commanding Officer of the 8 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, along with all Ranks of the Battalion dedicated their efforts to construct the home. Their hard work and dedication were formally recognized during the inauguration ceremony, which was graced by the Commander of the Security Forces (Wanni).
