56 INFANTRY DIVISION CONTINUES DISTRIBUTING OF SPECTACLES FOR VISION IMPAIRED PEOPLE IN KAKYANKULAM

Under the esteemed leadership of Major General S. Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of the 56th Infantry Division, the 12th (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment organized a special Spectacles Donation Programme on 2 October 2024, at the Kakyankulam Community Hall.

This heartfelt initiative aimed at improving the quality of life for the local residents through an eye examination clinic and the distribution of free spectacles. During the ceremony, 102 civilians were provided with spectacles, greatly enhancing their vision and overall well-being. This program was launched with the generous contribution of Dr. V Sarveshwaran, Chairman of Assist Resettlement & Renaissance organization (UK & SRI LANKA).

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Major General S. Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of the 56th Infantry Division, who participated as the chief guest. The event was also attended by the Commander 562 Infantry Brigade, and the Commanding Officer of the 12th (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. Adding further significance, Mr. Basir, the President of the Kakyankulam Church, also took part in the occasion.

During the eye clinic, spectacles were distributed to 102 civilians, providing them with improved vision and enhancing their quality of life. The event was a resounding success, leaving a lasting positive impact on all who attended and further reinforcing the role of the military as a pillar of support and care within the community.
