10 (V) GW COMPLETES BATTALION TRAINING COURSE AT ALANKULAM

The 10 (Volunteer) Gamunu Watch (GW) troops completed their Battalion Training Course at the Battalion Training School, Alankulam on 09 July 2024. 13 Officers and 426 Other Ranks of the 10 (V) GW participated in the two-month long course.

The curriculum in the course included lectures and practical sessions on map reading, counter-insurgency operations, internal security, fighting in built-up areas, live-firing, swimming, role and tasks and equipment of the introduction of Artillery guns, and field visits to 14 Sri Lanka Artillery and School of Mechanized Infantry Regiment.

Further, a presentation on 'Mullathive Attack' was conducted by a team of the 10 (Volunteer) Gamunu Watch at the end of the Battalion Training Course.

The closing remarks of the course were delivered by the Commander, Security Forces -Wanni. The General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division, Commander 541 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were participated.

During the awarding ceremony, the following Officers and Other Ranks were awarded trophies:

Best Student - Corporal Weerasinghe HADD

Best Shooter - Lance Corporal Roopasinghe RGNK

Best in Physical - Lance Corporal Madusanka KWL

Best Company - A Company

Best platoon - Second Platoon of C Company

Best Section - Second Section of 2 Platoon, C Company
