As per the direction of Comd SFHQ (W) Maj Gen WPADW Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu and under the guidance of GOC 59 Infantry Division Maj Gen WMPM Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, Comd 593 Infantry Brigade Brig HVA Somaweera RWP RSP USP and all under command Brigades and Battalion at 59 Inf Division organized a “VESAK KALAPAYA” followed by “DANSALA” in PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU public ground on 23& 24 May 2024 in line with Vesak Full Moon Poya day with the fullest blessing and cooperation of PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU people.
The Chief Guest of the opening ceremony on 23 May was Mullativu District Mr A Uma mahashwaram and he was accompanied by GOC 59 Infantry Division Maj Gen WMPM Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu. On the second day of the event Comd Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) Maj Gen WPADW Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu has graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The VESAK KALAPAYA decorated with colourful Vesak lanterns and more than 20000 of residence in MULLAITTIVU enjoyed the Vesak Festival. DANSALA also conducted in both days and more than 15000 civilians were facilitated the service.
